Check out what we found at our local markets on the weekend! A bunch of "Bilda-brix" brand that were manufactured by "PLAYMATE" blocks from "Moulded Products (Australasia) Limited" in the 1950's. These old toy plastic building blocks are around 74 years old now. Although they do not look as shiny as plastic building blocks today, that is because this is how they were made. We would say that these have probably not changed much at all since their production. These blocks are still made from ABS plastic as are ours, just the processes and formulas for their manufacture have been improved.
This obviously is not the original box packaging, as with old toys the cardboard box is usually the first thing to get damaged and fall apart. You can see there are metal strips and some cardboard window pieces for assembling multiple building type structures. Check out the full booklet pages below that came with it, and it is still in pretty good condition.

These plastic toy building blocks from the 1950's might seem a bit weird to us but they would have been new and an exciting product for kids back then ; )
